This workshop is an invitation to awaken and revive your embodied senses and emotional sensors. Through movement, dance, breath, awareness and open verbal inquiry, we explore the subtle language of the body — what feels pleasurable, what doesn't, what we long for, what we wish for, what we are drawn towards and what we want to move away from.
Drawing on aspects of Betty Martin's Wheel of Consent, we explore desire, longing, wishes, boundaries and limits in an organic, embodied way. We practise noticing the signals our bodies give us, learning to trust and value them, and discovering how to express what we want, what we don't want, what we are willing to give, what we are willing to receive, and where our boundaries and limits lie.
A central exploration is the distinction between doing and receiving: Who is doing? Who is it for? What do I want? What am I willing to give? What am I willing to receive?
At its heart, this is an exploration of self-attunement and self-determination — developing the capacity to sense what is true for us, honour our yes and our no, and make choices that are aligned with our embodied experience.
Through Open Floor Embodied Dance, combined with other practices, we create a safe and supportive environment to explore these complex and intimate territories with curiosity, mindfulness and compassion.
This workshop is open to adults of all genders, sexual orientations and relationship statuses. We strive to co-create an environment that is inclusive, positive, curious and expansive, and that honours the experiences each person brings into the room.
Some prior experience with conscious movement practices such as Open Floor, 5Rhythms, Movement Medicine, Biodanza or similar is recommended, so that you can fully engage with and deepen the embodied explorations.
This workshop is not about dance technique or performance. You are invited to participate at your own pace, honouring your own boundaries, capacity and sense of choice throughout the workshop.
Libido workshops count as a prerequisite for the Open Floor Teacher Training.
The retreat will be taught in English, with translation into Dutch where needed.
